How to Make ChatGPT or Claude Manage Your Job Search
AI assistants are good at finding jobs and bad at remembering them. Connect the assistant to a tracker and it keeps your pipeline current as you talk.
Ask ChatGPT or Claude to find remote backend jobs in Europe and you'll get a decent list in a minute. Ask it tomorrow what happened to those jobs and it has no idea. The list lived in one conversation and died with it. The fix is not a better prompt; it's giving the assistant somewhere to put things.
Connect the assistant to your tracker
Both ChatGPT and Claude can use outside tools through connectors. JobEJ offers one: in Settings → Integrations you'll find a connection link, and the steps for each assistant. You add JobEJ as a connector once, sign in to approve it, and from then on the assistant can save jobs to your account, check what's already there, and update a job when you tell it something happened. It never sees your password and can't read your billing.
What you can say once it's connected
- "Find remote Python jobs in Europe posted this week and save the real ones to JobEJ." The assistant searches, checks each posting is live, and imports them with title, company, location, salary and the link.
- "What's in my JobEJ tracker?" It lists your saved jobs instead of guessing from the conversation.
- "I applied to Kake today." The job moves from prospecting to applied.
- "Note on the Canonical job: recruiter is Ana, second round is Thursday." A dated note lands on that job.
- "Draft a resume tailored to the GR8 Tech job." It creates a draft in JobEJ for you to review; your original resume is never changed.
Why this beats a longer chat
A conversation is a bad database. It forgets, it can't be searched, and the assistant will confidently tell you a job is 'already saved' when it isn't. With a tracker behind it, the assistant checks before it claims, and everything it adds shows up in the same place as the jobs you saved by hand or with the extension. You get the assistant's speed with a record you can trust.
Where it stops
The assistant can add and update jobs; it cannot apply for you, and you shouldn't want it to. Applications written by a model read like applications written by a model. Use it to find, to organise and to draft, then do the part that gets you hired yourself.
