Welcome to JobEJ ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our job application tracking service.

By using JobEJ, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account information (email address, name, password)
• Job application data (company names, positions, dates, notes)
• Interview preparation notes and questions
• Salary information and expectations
• Resume content (when using our resume builder)
• Payment information (processed securely by our merchant of record, Paddle)

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Device information (browser type, operating system)
• Usage data (pages visited, features used, time spent)
• IP address and approximate location
• Cookies and similar tracking technologies
• Which of our advertising or campaign links you followed to reach us, and when. A link sets a first-party cookie holding a random identifier for your browser, and once you have an account these visits are linked to it, so we can tell which advertising brings customers. It is not shared with advertising platforms.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain our job tracking service
• Process your transactions and manage your subscription
• Send you important updates about your account
• Improve our services based on usage patterns
• Respond to your support requests
• Protect against fraudulent or unauthorized activity
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: With trusted third parties who help us operate our service (hosting, email delivery, payment processing, monitoring, and AI inference)
• AI features: When you request an AI feature, the text needed for that request (which may include resume and job-posting content) is sent to the AI inference provider configured for that feature. JobEJ does not send your provider API keys to your browser or connected assistant.
• Connected assistants: If you connect ChatGPT, Claude, or another compatible assistant through JobEJ's OAuth/MCP integration, that assistant may perform only the actions you authorize. When you ask it to tailor your resume for a saved job, JobEJ sends that assistant the professional content of the resume you choose — your summary, roles, achievements, skills and education — so that the assistant can write the rewrite itself instead of JobEJ's AI writing it. Your contact details (email address, phone number, postal address) are never sent. JobEJ saves the rewrite against the job you named and keeps your employers, job titles and dates exactly as you entered them; a skill the assistant adds that is not already in your resume is discarded. Those checks cover the fields they name, not the wording of a description, so every draft is marked as needing your review before you use it. Saving again for the same job replaces that job’s draft rather than adding another. If you ask JobEJ to write the draft instead, the resume content goes to JobEJ's AI inference provider (see “AI features” above) rather than to your assistant. Anything your assistant has received is then also covered by that assistant's own privacy policy. You can disconnect it at any time.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit and at rest

• Limited access to personal data

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings. After deletion, we may retain certain information for legal compliance and dispute resolution for up to 90 days.

8. Chrome Extension

The JobEJ Chrome extension lets you save a job posting you are looking at into your JobEJ account. It works only when you ask it to:

• What it sends, and when: when you click "Save to JobEJ" (the floating button, the popup or the right-click menu), the extension sends the address of the page and its visible content to JobEJ, where our AI reads the job title, company, location and description and stores them in your account. Nothing is sent from pages you do not save.
• Your API token: the token you paste into the extension identifies your account. It is stored in your browser only, sent to JobEJ with each save, and can be revoked at any time from Settings → API Tokens.
• What it reads on other pages: to decide whether to show the "Save to JobEJ" button, the extension checks the page address against a list of job-page patterns that it downloads from JobEJ about once an hour. That check happens in your browser; no page address is sent to us for it.
• Nothing else: the extension does not collect browsing history, keystrokes, form contents, cookies or personal data from the pages you visit, and it does not sell or share any data.

Data saved through the extension is part of your account data and is handled as described elsewhere in this policy, including your rights to export and delete it.

9. Children's Privacy

JobEJ is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
